UEFA has opened a disciplinary case concerning Chelsea winger the Portuguese international after he pushed over a young stadium attendant in the Champions League match by Paris St‑Germain.
The 26-year-old, Neto, shoved the youngster during added time of the last-16 fixture in Paris – where Chelsea lost heavy defeat – which caused the boy to fall off a stool.
It sparked a confrontation involving the opposing squads.
Uefa said action has been taken against the player on grounds of "conduct contrary to sporting spirit" as per UEFA's code.
"Disciplinary officials will decide on this case in the coming days," UEFA added in its statement.
Neto said sorry after the match attributing it to being caught up "in the emotion of the game" as he tried to get back the match ball.
"This is out of character for me. It happened in the passion of the game and I sincerely apologise. I gave him my shirt. I deeply regret it - I feel I have to apologise to him," Neto told the media.
"I don't speak French well, and [Portugal team-mate] Vitinha stepped in and told him I was not like this.
"Eventually he [the ball boy] laughed and I gave him my shirt apologising repeatedly. He understood what had happened and was happy with the situation."
The London club face PSG in the upcoming second leg in the second leg, following a match against Newcastle at their home ground on Saturday in domestic competition.
