Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in Maiden Address

On his first day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “reimagine” New York City, declaring “a new era” and an audacious beginning to his term.

An Unprecedented Leader

The young political star, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the inaugural to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.

“A time such as this is rare and even more uncommon is it that the people themselves whose hold the controls for transformation,” Mamdani stated.
