Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The finalists were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The event will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

The Darts Prodigy

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
