Six Individuals Detained After 12 Million Euro Heist on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A group of six individuals carrying high-powered firearms detonated charges to force entry into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, France, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile daytime heist to occur in the country.

The bold operation was carried out on Thursday afternoon, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth 12 million euros (10.5 million pounds), officials reported.

Five staff members of the precious metals facility received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three of them were transported to hospital for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, believed to be experienced criminals, were arrested shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved involved in the raid was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in Lyon were caught in the act,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were likewise seized.
