Peacemaker Second Season Finale to Address Significant Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Confirms

Although the reception for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely favorable, with fans and critics praising the acting and storyline—despite the fact that the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—a particular criticism has only grown stronger throughout the season: dwindling episode runtimes.

Over the past few episodes, viewers have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter runtimes in season 2, and it's true, the installments have been progressively briefer. The seventh episode, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the summary, title sequence, and closing credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

Series creator and DCU boss James Gunn stated via social media, replying to a viewer's concern.

Despite this news, it's unknown exactly how much of the runtime will be actual new footage, free from opening and ending sequences, or recaps of previous events. However, should the finale includes all the aforementioned filler, that would still allow for between 45 and 50 minutes for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade following the previous installment.

Gunn previously teased that the finale would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the greater DCU as a whole will be heading and act as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Considering the brief appearance of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, many are anticipating a exciting guest appearance to conclude the show.

Peacemaker's finale, episode 8, is called "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if viewer theories are confirmed.
